Jayden Short was recognized at this week's school board meeting. She is a 9th grader at Tazewell High School and will be attending the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston on June 25-27. The Congress of Future Medical leaders is held at the Univ. of Massachusetts Lowell Campus. This event is an honors-only program for high school students to honor, inspire, motivate and direct the top students in the U.S. toward a career in the medical field. Congrats, Jayden!

Richlands Area: Bus 15 will not run today. Bus 97 will pick up kids down to the college. Buses 35 and 77 will pick up bus 15 students in College Estates.

Friday March 14th: Tazewell Area: No Bus 20 Bus 33 will pick up to Rasnake Road. Bus 34 will pick up Mundytown and Rasnake Road to Adria Road. Richlands Area: No bus 5. Bus 1 will pick up Taylor Circle and Mill Creek Road. Bus 14 will pick up Rodeo, Westmont and Reedy Rd. Bus 64 will pick up 4 Lane West Bound. Bus 65 will pick up Silver Spur and Food City Gas and Go.

TAZEWELL AREA: Bus 20 will not run tomorrow morning(3/13). Bus 33 will pick up students all the way to Rasnake Rd. Bus 48 will pick up Mundaytown and down to Rasnake Rd. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and delays tomorrow morning!

Tazewell County Career and Technical Center's graduation will be held on Thursday, May 29th at 6:30 in the Tazewell High School Auditorium. Students will wear their caps and gowns from their home high schools and report to the THS gym by 6 p.m. All graduates must attend graduation practice on Wednesday, May 28th from 12:30-1:30 to walk at graduation.

During the school board meeting this week, Mr. Steele presented Principal Larimer with the masonry sign that was outside her father's classroom when he taught at Tazewell County Career and Technical Center. Mr. Steele was taught masonry by Principal Larimer's father.

Tazewell Middle School students in Mr. Steele's masonry CTE elective class were recognized by the school board this week because 26 students received their OSHA certifications!

Kay Corwell was recognized by THS Principal Jerry Smith at this week's school board meeting for recently being named a WVVA Hometown Hero. Kay serves as the Communities in School of the Appalachian Highlands representative for THS and works daily to provide students with basic needs such as water, electricity, food, and clothing. Kay also sponsors "Cinderella's Closet" to make sure that all students have access to prom dresses and suits. Each year she supplies several families of THS students with Thanksgiving turkeys and Christmas hams, as well as all of the fixings for a proper holiday meal. Kay goes above and beyond for the students of THS! Congrats to our Hometown Hero!

Carter Creasy from THS was recognized at this week's school board meeting for his basketball and football accomplishments. Carter has scored 1000 points during his basketball career. In addition, for football, he is the VHSL record holder for career completions with 839 and 2nd in all-time VHSL history for both all-purpose yards (13,098) and career passing yards (11, 082). He is in 5th place in VHSL for total touchdowns with 131 and also 7th all-time VHSL for passing touchdowns with 104. Lastly, he holds the school record for passing yards with 501 against Giles in 2023.

The school board recognized the students in this picture last night who have all qualified to attend the state SkillsUSA competition in Roanoke in April. They are pictured with some of the faculty from TCCTC. Way to go, SkillsUSA students!

All TCPS graduation ceremonies will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025! Graham High School’s will be held at 10 a.m. Tazewell High School’s will be held at 1 p.m. Richlands High School’s will be held at 4 p.m.

Our school board announced tonight that the last day of school for this academic year will be June 5, 2025 for students and June 6, 2025 for teachers.

Report cards will go home tomorrow for the 4th six weeks!

We are aware of a situation today at Richlands High School involving a weapon. No students or staff were injured. School officials & our SRO took immediate action. The safety of our students & staff are our utmost concern.
