Due to a water main break Graham High School will be closed Monday, October 7, 2024.

Monday, Oct. 7th & Tuesday, Oct. 8th, all schools will operate on a two-hour delay. Bus routes will operate as usual on the delayed schedule except for Burke's Garden. Students riding the bus from Burke's Garden need to meet the driver at the old J.R.'s store at 8:55 a.m.

TCPS will be closed Thursday/October 3rd, and Friday/October 4th. These are not virtual days, just closed. Only 11 & 12 month employees will report at 9:00 a.m.
There has been a tremendous amount of progress made restoring power to almost all of our schools & to to a large portion of our communities. Due to the effects of the storm many roads have been impacted and this will result in some altered bus routes. An updated bus route schedule will be released Friday evening. Because of the power outage TCPS did experience some loss of food and all dairy products. We have been advised that new supplies will begin arriving Friday to our schools.
We will open all of our schools again on Monday, October 7, 2024. Because of the altered bus routes and the possibility of continued debris on the roadside we will operate on a 2hr delay both Monday, October 7th & Tuesday, October 8th.
Thank you to everyone for all of the support and understanding!

TCCTC students Katie Arrington ( RHS) and Dylan Belcher (GHS) won 1st place 🥇 🏆 in the Virginia State Fair masonry competition. They each received $600, prizes and tools, and also a $250 scholarship from SkillsUSA.

TCPS 11 & 12 month employees should report to their respective school/office at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

While we continue to see great progress being made in debris cleanup & power restoration there is still much work to be completed. TCPS will remain closed Wednesday, October 2, 2024 on a virtual schedule. An employee scheduled will be announced later today.

Good Morning, I hope that everyone is safe today as our communities continue to deal with the aftermath of the hurricane. As of now Tazewell County Public Schools will be closed Monday & Tuesday (September 30th & October 1st). This will be Code 10 for all employees. These days will be listed as virtual with no assignments being issued. I ask that our students assist their families & neighbors with clean up efforts. As soon as we can get power restored to our facilities we will determine when we can begin food service even if we are not back in school. Many of our citizens and families are without power and internet capabilities. Please help spread this message as much as possible. I will continue to send updates when I have them.
Dr. Stacy

Tazewell County Public Schools will be closed Friday, September 27, 2024. All 12 month employees should report at 9:00 a.m.

We are aware of a threat directed towards an organization in the Richlands area. We have been advised by both the Richlands Police Dept & the Taz Co Sheriff's office that this threat is not towards any of our schools or offices. Thank you for your continued support.

I have been advised by the Sheriff's office that the investigation in regard to the anonymous threat shared on Facebook has been deemed not credible for our schools. It appears this same post, or very similar posts, have impacted school divisions across several counties and states over the past several days. As always TCPS will take all threats seriously and will continue to work with our partners in law enforcement. Thank you to all of our town and county officers for working to keep our students, faculty, and staff safe. We will continue to see an increased police presence in all of our schools. We are also working diligently to get our metal detectors in place and operational for another level of school security. Thanks to all of our school personnel for being there for our students and keeping our schools safe!
-Dr. Chris Stacy, TCPS Superintendent

While the threatening post shared on Facebook seems to be similar to one's shared in neighboring counties we are continuing to work with law enforcement to determine the origins and validity of the post. We will have an increased law enforcement presence at all of our schools.

We are aware of a threatening post that has been circulating on social media. It appears to be similar to what nearby school systems have received. We have referred this post to the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office which handles our school security program. They are taking appropriate actions to protect our schools.
