🚨 October 7, 2025 — There was an arrest outside Richlands High School. The individual never entered the building and was not found with any weapons. Authorities responded quickly, and there was no direct threat to students or staff.

The School Nutrition Department is eagerly seeking individuals for our substitute roster. Substitutes are currently needed for each school day. Working hours can be either a 4 or 6 hour shift. Tazewell Primary School hosted a Family Engagement Meeting on 9/23/25. Students participated in a Heartword Heroes themed reading journey. The children participated in a "Roll, Read, and Race" game, a "Sightword Scavenger Hunt," and a "Build, Stack, and Read" game using cups!
Tazewell County Public Schools hosted a District Family Engagement Meeting on 9/25/25 at Springville Elementary School. Parents participated in a "Harvesting Success: Growing Readers and Learners" themed event. They learned about the Title I program, VLA, our new reading and intervention series, and participated in a hands-on readers theater to demonstrate how learning can be fun and engaging for all!
Tazewell Intermediate School hosted a Family Engagement Meeting on 9/23/25. Students participated in an outer space-themed reading journey, reading and solving various problems in order to find the spaceship codes they needed to return from their adventures!

Richlands Elementary School had a Family Engagement Meeting on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Over 340 parents and students attended. Students solved problems with the interactive Lu, played educational games, received books and materials for them to use at home with family, and frolicked in the foam from the foam machine.
Each school will send home consent forms and parent letters for the flu clinics. You may also see your school nurse for the consent forms. Consent forms must be returned by students and staff by October 15th.
We’re asking all TCPS students, faculty, and staff to wear gold on Friday, September 19, 2025, to show support for children battling cancer. 💛
