At this month’s school board meeting, Richlands High School seniors Rianna Dawn Addison (pictured) and Bailey Neveah Ann Sparks (not pictured) were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.

Rianna Dawn Addison, daughter of Rich and Denise Addison, was named the Richlands High School Class of 2026 Valedictorian. As valedictorian, Rianna is the recipient of this year’s Stowers Scholarship, awarded annually to the valedictorian of each Tazewell County high school. Rianna currently serves as treasurer of the Class of 2026 and has demonstrated exceptional leadership through her involvement in numerous school organizations. She serves as president of Beta Club and History Club, vice president of Astronomy Club, treasurer of National Honor Society, and student leader of Teens for Christ. She is also an active member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Library Club, Cadre, Key Club, Model General Assembly, FBLA, and HI-Y. Additionally, Rianna was a member of the marching band for six years and served as colorguard captain. This fall, she will attend East Tennessee State University to major in Rehabilitative Health Sciences, with plans to become a speech-language pathologist.

Bailey Neveah Ann Sparks, daughter of Kevin and Violet Sparks, was recognized as the Richlands High School Class of 2026 Salutatorian. Throughout her high school career, Bailey has held several leadership positions, including senior class secretary, History Club vice president, FBLA parliamentarian, and co-captain of the Scholastic Bowl Team. She has also been actively involved in Cadre, Teens for Christ, Library Club, Key Club, Astronomy Club, Upward Bound, Beta Club, and National Honor Society. Bailey plans to attend East Tennessee State University this fall to study Rehabilitative Health Sciences and pursue a career as a speech-language pathologist.

At this month’s school board meeting, Tazewell High School seniors Ethan Channing Quesenberry (left) and Matthew Skyler Dove (right) were recognized for their exceptional academic achievements.

Ethan Channing Quesenberry, son of Danielle and Brandon Quesenberry, was named the Tazewell High School Class of 2026 Valedictorian. Ethan will attend Virginia Tech, where he plans to study aerospace engineering. His goal is to earn a Ph.D. in propulsion systems and pursue a career in the aerospace industry.

Matthew Skyler Dove, son of Teresa and William Dove, was recognized as the Class of 2026 Salutatorian. Matthew will attend Liberty University, where he plans to study history. He hopes to continue his education through doctoral studies and ultimately become a history professor.

Congratulations to Ethan and Matthew on their outstanding accomplishments and best wishes as they begin the next chapter of their academic journeys.

Elise Jacobs (left), daughter of Mike and Laura Jacobs, was named the Graham High School Class of 2026 Valedictorian. Elise will continue her education this fall at Virginia Tech.

Madeline Young (right), daughter of Eric and Joanne Young, was recognized as the Class of 2026 Salutatorian. Madeline, known as “Maddee” to family and friends, will attend Emory & Henry University this fall.

The Tazewell High School FBLA chapter was recognized at this month’s school board meeting for an outstanding year of achievement at the regional, state, and national levels. Members earned top placements in numerous competitive events, received prestigious honors and scholarships, and were recognized for their leadership and service to the organization. In addition to their individual accomplishments, the chapter was named a Virginia FBLA Honor Chapter and a National FBLA Champion Chapter, reflecting its commitment to leadership development, community service, and career readiness. Congratulations to all of the students and advisors whose hard work and dedication contributed to another successful year for Tazewell High School FBLA.

The Graham Middle School Track Team was recognized at this month's school board meeting for an outstanding season. The team earned a 2nd place finish at the Concord University Middle School Invitational and captured both the boys' and girls' county track championships.

Throughout the season, the team demonstrated exceptional performance and consistency, placing first in four of the five track meets they competed in. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence resulted in one of the most successful seasons in recent school history.

Congratulations to the student-athletes and coaches on their achievements and for representing Graham Middle School with pride!

Tonight, the Tazewell County School Board voted to officially name the Tazewell High School softball field in honor of Bulldog softball founders Mr. Larry Poskas and Ms. Deidra Hill. The field will now proudly be known as the Hill-Poskas Softball Field! 🥎

Ms. Hill and Mr. Poskas also had the opportunity to hear heartfelt comments from former players they coached throughout the years, sharing memories and gratitude for the impact they made both on and off the field. Their dedication helped build a tradition that continues to shape Bulldog softball today. 💚
