Faith Looney, a Graham High School senior, and Caleb Roberts, a Tazewell High School senior, have been chosen to attend the 2023 Jobs for America Graduates National Student Leadership Academy in Washington, D.C. on November 30, 2023-December 2, 2023. Both students also attend Tazewell County Career and Technical Center.
The National Student Leadership Academy (NSLA) is a capstone leadership experience for state officers and local chapter leaders, providing unique experiences through experiential learning, real-world applicability, and networking. Faith Looney was chosen to be the 2023-2024 Jobs for Virginia Graduates State Delegate. Caleb Roberts was chosen to be the 2023-2024 Jobs for Virginia Graduates Parliamentarian. Both students will be representing Jobs for Virginia Graduates, Tazewell County Career andTechnical Center, and all of Southwest Virginia as they attend the 2023 Jobs for America Graduates National Student Leadership Academy in Washington DC.
Only eight students from the state of Virginia are chosen for the state positions, and only two from each region are chosen. Tazewell County Career and Technical Center has the honor of filling both positions this year due to the hard work, diligence, and leadership skills shown by both students. Faith Looney and Caleb Roberts were recognized at the November Tazewell County School Board Meeting.

In addition to leadership development, these participants will explore our nation’s capital, visit with leaders on Capitol Hill, participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, and sightsee during the Twilight Monument Tour.
