ABOUT TAZEWELL COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Tazewell County Public Schools (TCPS) is a public school division of the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) serving students in all geographic areas of Tazewell County. The division is comprised of 14 schools, including seven elementary schools, three middle schools, three high schools, and one career and technical school serving all high school students. The division has a total enrollment of 5,294 students for the 2023-2024 school year, which Tazewell County Public Schools seeks to serve based on the guiding principles of Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships.

 TCPS has been one of the top-performing academic divisions in the Commonwealth of Virginia ranking 12th in 2021 -2022 and 12th in 2022-2023 on Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, TCPS has continued to find ways to lead the Commonwealth in safety and mitigation strategies as well as appropriate educational service opportunities for our students and families.
