Winter Break will start tomorrow! It will go from Thursday, December 21, 2023, until Sunday, January 7th for students. Students will return to school on Monday, January 8, 2024!


Tazewell County Public Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

Due to the inclement weather, the fifth grade public performance of “The Greatest Snowman” will be postponed to Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 6:30 P.M. More information about location will be announced after our Winter Break.

Tazewell County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, December 19, 2023. (Not a virtual day). 12 month employees report at 9:30 a.m.

Our RES November Fundraiser items have been delivered to the school. If you would like to come to the school to pick these items up, please come to the office window and give your name. Your child’s name, and their classroom teacher. Thank you for helping our school.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our RES gym will not be available for our Christmas program tomorrow night. Richlands High School has graciously agreed to let us use their auditorium on Tuesday, December 19 instead.
“The Greatest Snowman” public performance will occur at 6:30 P.M. next Tuesday evening at Richlands High School. Students in the program should come to the RHS cafeteria by 5:45.

Bus 65 will not run today.
Buses 1, 15, and 4 will be picking up students. Expect a delay.

The RES Santa's Secret Store is coming next week, December 11-15. Flyers were sent home yesterday and a video will be posted this weekend so you can view the different items being sold at the store.


Richlands Elementary 4th and 5th Grade students recently participated in the Tazewell County Spelling Bee. Richlands Elementary was well represented by fourth graders, Caelyn Arms and Canaan Wess, and our fifth graders, Jace Willis and Tucker Smith. Caelyn Arms placed 4th in the spelling bee. Great morning for our 4th/5th grade elementary Spelling Bee! We have some excellent spellers assembled and ready to compete!



Richlands Area:
Bus 17 will not run on Thursday Morning (11/30/23).
Buses 74, 75, and 32 will be picking up the students.
