TeamWorks Team

Tazewell County Career and Technical Center (TCCTC) students Dylan Belcher, Ethan Deel, Orion Mustard, and Matthew Shirey scored 10th in the nation in the National SkillsUSA TeamWorks competition that was held in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 23-27, 2025.  The TeamWorks competition is designed to evaluate a team’s preparation for employment and to recognize outstanding students for excellence and professionalism in the field of residential carpentry, roofing, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and teamwork skills. 

Upon learning that the TeamWorks team won 10th place, Tazewell County Career and Technical Center’s Principal Lee Salyers, Jr. said, “TCCTC Teamworks competed against 34 other states, and to finish 10th is a great accomplishment. Our students showed once again they have the talent, ability, and skill set to compete against anyone.”

Mechatronics

 Riley Butcher placed 16th in the nation.

 First Aid-CPR 

Brett Bishop placed 19th in the nation. 

Promotional Bulletin Board 

Haley Harless, Trinity Phillips, and Michaela Tate placed 22nd in the nation. 

Robotics and Animation Technology 

Wesley Dudley and Gabriel Grose placed 15th in the nation.

Not only did they compete on the national stage, but gained valuable leadership experience they can take with them to the classroom, workplace, or to post-secondary opportunities,” said Lee Salyers, Jr., Principal of Tazewell County Career and Technical Center. 

The SkillsUSA Championships is the premier showcase of America’s most highly skilled career and technical education students. It’s also one of the largest hands-on workforce development events in the world. Held in conjunction with SkillsUSA’s National Leadership & Skills Conference each June, this awe-inspiring event features more than 6,500 state champions from across the United States competing head-to-head in 114 skilled and leadership competitions.
