Career Fair

JVG students at the Tazewell County Career and Technical Center hosted a career fair for students in the school on April 25, 2024. Approximately 150 TCCTC students attended, as well as approximately 70 students from Bland County High School who were also invited on this day to tour the school and attend the career fair; around 30 different businesses, colleges, various employment commissions, and job corps attended.

The students engaged in job searches and were able to use various simulators that portrayed on-the-job skills such as driving an industrial dump truck, defusing a bomb with a bomb robot, and piloting a drone for land surveying. Students also got to see firsthand what business leaders in our area are looking for, what jobs are available to them upon successful graduation, how to apply at a respective job or college, and, of course, they picked up a ton of swag from the many career fair attendees! JVG specialist Tyler Brooks stated, "Our career fairs in the past have proved to bolster relationships between our school and Jobs for Virginia Graduates with our local businesses. The career fair has also proved to provide successful employment for our students, as many of the businesses that attend come looking for prospective employees ready to go into the workforce."
